{     Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin - Pershing     }

Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin is not for everyone. Well, it is pop music which is supposed to be for everyone but a good majority of people still hate things that sound poppy. I am not one of those people. My love for bands like Tilly and the Wall has made me as tolerant of pop music as they come. With that said, Pershing is an acceptable follow up to SSLYBY's first album Broom.

It keeps the same vocal stylings as Broom as well as the same melodic and tastefully picked guitar rhythms. It also seems to have more vocal layering. I assume these are other members of the band singing backup but I'm not sure. It could be produced. In any case, the vocals on this album are much more impressive. For instance the track "Think I Wanna Die" at the beginning sounds like The Shins imitating 50's radio pop.

With Pershing, Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin prove they are one of those bands you can tell is putting care into evolving their sound while keeping the safest possible distance between the old and new: something a lot of bands fail at. Making it out of an anticipated follow up alive is the point at which I develop trust for a band and, without even a preview, dish out my hard earned money for their effort.

I recommend wearing out Broom before moving into Pershing. I think you'll find the hooks and melodies grow on you faster as the latter is a natural step forward.

Never listend to them before but I like what I have heard so far. I am a sucker for any songs that have la la las or do do dos, and of course ahhhhhhhs.
