{ Erik Parker "Between Lines" at Marianne Boesky Gallery }
It's a shame Marianne Boesky Gallery's website doesn't have more up close details of Eric Parker's drawn streams because it's within a foot's distance that their weirdness really shines. Consistently original processions of silly stoner characters overtop the bold titles call to mind so many good things from the doodler undermind that the buzzy resonance generated is all one needs to be drawn in.
Pun intended.

Really?
At Marianne Boesky?
Maybe I need to get within a foot's distance, because thematically, without getting a good look at these, I'm not getting it.
They seem a bit overwrought, like a Joe Coleman portrait without all the dark criminally insane-ness.
Maybe it's the whole stoner-vibe, I can't take anything that cottons to pot culture seriously, yet since I can't really see what's going on I'm likely missing how it actually comments on that exact phenomenon in a relevant and meaningful way.
