{ edIT "Certified Air Raid Material" }

So it's an early Saturday night, I'm waiting in Adam's car while he goes into the store to get some beers. He leaves the car running with the music playing when all the sudden a sound that can only be described as propulsive, starts beaming from the speakers. I proceed to turn the volume louder as my neck threatens to snap loose from my shoulders from the extreeeeeme level of head-nod induced by these beats of unknown origin. The one two combo of glitchy, intricate effects and serious club worthy beats is so fresh and familiar at the same time I can't help but think "how the hell do I not know who this is?"
Well after a bit of sleuthing it finally comes to light that the sounds that I heard eminating from Adam's speakers were none other than a man named edIT.
I had a bit of knowledge of his work from the mashup mega-mix he did for Hefty's 10th anniversary. He took club jam accapellas and chopped them up over reworked beats from the Hefty catalog making a stew of obvious and not-so-obvious that could please a hardcore glitch-hop fan as well as his radio-jam-loving little sister.
"Certified Air Raid Material" is DJ edIT's second album and to say he has avoided the sophomore slump is an understatement. It's more like he took all he learned from his work on Mike Paradinas' label Planet Mu and paired it with his own interpretation of Timbalands knob-twidling to make a sound that is definitely greater than the sum of it's wholes.
But what about the MC's you say? Well edIT teamed up with the Grouch, Busdriver, TTC, Abstract Rude and D-Styles to lend some wit and spit to his certified hits and the overall outcome is devastating. Check "Artsy" or "Crunk De Gaulle" to hear what I hope to be the future of hip-hop, not just on the underground tip but above ground as well.
So I thank Adam for the beers and Mr. edIT for the sounds in my ears.
