{     Drifter • Late Summer o7'     }

L4412.jpg

Summer is winding down, despite the days that feel like walking on the surface of the sun. Soon it’ll be back to the frigid and cool weather that the cynic in us all revels in. Before that happens though, Drifter has dropped some pretty nice threads on us.

There are designs that you see and immediately think, “Man, that’s f*ckin clever.” and then there are shirts that you see and think, “It’s just cool.” For a long time, Drifter’s staple has been there ability to take a poignant image and blend in something to complete the impact of the design on anyone who lays eyes on it.

One of the shirts displayed below for instance take the somewhat melancholy Virgin Mary and give her sadness a relevance by surrounding her with thorns, knives, brass knuckles, and a vine of thorns. Enough to make any mother of a religious icon sad. Also shown is a damn fine polo with an obscure “madam” image, coupled with two cobras. What does that stand for? Hell if I know, it just looks cool and being a jaded single reminds me of the venomous nature of some women.

Finally coinciding with the Smashing Pumpkins return (whether you like it or not) to the music scene, Drifter has put out a Pumpkins tee to show you that Billy Corgan is still alive and trying to rock out. Sure the album might have been successful if it were released back in 1997 as opposed to 2007 but the tee shirt is a Drifter tee which means ultra high quality and sweet designs. Yeah, at least the shirt is cool, right?

My only gripe to carry with these shirts is the same one: price. But as always Drifter has their “sales” and the prices become pretty reasonable considering the high quality of these products. So if you don’t mind paying and hand washing (yes, hand washing) a shirt every now and then stop over to Drifter again, look up their “Where To Buy” section, and check out these choice releases.
