http://www.crowndozen.com/main/archives/upload/2006/11/affliction2-thumb.jpgIn the mid 14th century the bubonic plague, or more commonly known as the Black Death, stormed through Europe and the rest of the known world wiping out over 2/3rd of the population. This disease brought a new era of suffering and sorrow upon the world, and a fear that was shown in the writings and artwork that became a staple of the time. The art is like no other, depicting the death and destruction, as well as the acceptance and fear. I have always been fascinated by the art that came from that time, and would have never thought it to enter into the world of fashion. Affliction has taken the dark imagery of that time (and dark imagery in general), and created a new twist on what is fashionable. http://www.crowndozen.com/main/archives/upload/2006/11/affliction3-thumb.jpg Now don’t get me wrong these clothes are not full of plague infested people, or horrific scenes of death, but it is evident in thier vivid imagery that death sure played a part. The time and care that goes into each shirt is easy to see, as they stain/age/ and wash each shirt to make it unique to you…not just a claim, but true vintage fit. Heck, now I can actually watch Dazed and Confused and feel truly connected, minus the ability to buy booze at 18, or getting paddled. When you put on Affliction you are truly wearing a one-of-a-kind piece of art, custom made for you. Each top is a whirlwind of ominous imagery that can appeal to your die-hard metal fan, as much as your hip club goers… it’s just that diverse. Add in some stylish printed labels, descriptive hangtags, and in some cases metal bling, you end up with one rocking addition to your closet. I am eager to see what new designs and garments Affliction will produce in the next year, but until then I am very happy to scare the patrons of my local bar every weekend…

It's interesting to see just how permeant digital memory has become in our every day lives. It's like everytime I turn my head, I see something with a card slot or USB port, haha. I guess it makes sense though, considering how much cheaper memory has become as of late...Ahhh... who am I to complain. I can't make it through a single day without my R4 / R4i!(Posted from SurfV3 for R4i Nintendo DS.)
