{ 20 Jazz Funk Greats }
One of CrownDozen.com's favorite MP3 blogs is without question the inimitable 20 Jazz Funk Greats, however today they officially went above and beyond their normal call of duty and dropped one of my favorite blog posts of all time-time-time-time (that was kind of like a text-echo). It starts out all normal and good, but about halfway through this little jam turns into a work of wordsmithery that will make even the most dense thesaurus feel like the tracklist of a James Blunt album. What are they talking about? 20 Jazz Funk Greats speaks of Sabbath. How? Like this, on Ozzy: "That fact is melted into a black jewel and burned into my forehead. Ozzy's voice can make you feel like you've lost a child and are too numb to care. It's a question of scale; the pistoning riffs make Ozzy's voice sound tiny by comparison, like a Lovecraft protagonist dwarfed by the incomprehendible cosmic horrors surrounding him. Like a 'to scale' drawing of a man next to a dinosaur in a kids picture book. Except it isn't a dinosaur, it's a fucking nebula."
Go there for the Sabbath, stay there for the solid and unwaveringly good MP3 taste.
