There is no greater repository or resource for Trash Cinema on the planet than Something Weird Video. That's Trash Cinema with a capital "T" boys and girls- nobody has done more to legitimize the wholly illegitimate underworld of the film industry than SWV. When the King of Trash himself, Mr. John Waters, wanted some vintage footage to splice into his pan-sexual masterpiece "A Dirty Shame" he went to Something Weird. The result: Concussion-induced sexual hallucination footage that is as hilarious as it is titillating.
Whether you're looking for boobie-filled drive-in movies, vintage peep show reels, hallucinogenic drug-abuse propaganda shorts, 50's and 60's skin-flicks, Space-Age educational and instructional films, or just some straight-up horror/gore classics, Something Weird has got your back.
Their preservation efforts have included some of my favorite films of all time; most notably the entire filmography of O.G. gore-meister Herschel Gordon Lewis, (SWV is named after his 1967 film "Something Weird") and several classic burlesque films (Variatease, Tease-O-Rama) starring the likes of Betty Page, Tempest Storm and Lili St. Cyr. Something Weird Video has been responsible for making sure that these and other treasures haven't slipped through the cracks.
If you're only familiar with SWV through their VHS releases, you owe it to yourself to check out what they've accomplished in the DVD format- hours of trailers, shorts and even additional full-length films pad out each release. It is an absolutely retarded value, and a lot of the extra material is stuff you just won't see anywhere else. (My favorite- nudist camp footage shot in the idyllic 1950's showing entire families picknicking in the buff!)
With special pricing for DVD-R releases, a full range of just-minted DVD material and a huge back-catalog of rare VHS, Something Weird remains the largest provider of the lowbrow schlock you've been craving.
