{ David Lee Roth Eat'em & Smile/ Sonriza/Sovalje }

Say whatever you want; I wave a certain spandex flag high, proud and mighty. Lately, and many times before, I've listened to this album religiously and sadly, it remains one of the true rare gems from one of rock's greatest front men of the millennium. This album is not only a well oiled machine of blistering rock cock assault, it is BILINGUAL. There are two versions, English and Spanish, identical musically, however a spicier version can be obtained through the Spanish one. Don't know why everyone is always calling Dave out as a fruitcake, they must not know the definition of an entertainer, a showman, a man who full on gives a distorted stupor 115%. This is the album I wished Van Halen would have made after 1984. Whilst spending time checking out the inner sleeve, I've found that the band looks like a raggedy ass, second rate Van Halen tribute band; some lame scarves, hands on hips photo poses, unsexy dudes- the peak was in '86. Dave knew how to assemble a stellar band with first class production. I guess it's yet another example of the big one that got away! COULDN'T FOLLOW IT UP! And what a shame because Dave is a full on crowd pleaser and fully pulled it off on this release. I guess you could cut up your Women and Children First album cover and glue the faces over Steve Vai and the other dudes and continue to live in a perfect world.

i'll never ever forget the day that jess and i saw dave riding by 24th street and 3rd avenue in huntington on his bicycle, wearing pink spandex and no shirt... it was unmistakably him for he was scheduled to play at the regatta in a few days... i will treasure that memory forever..

But seriously, you can't hate on my man Steve Vai. He has those guitars that are like... double guitars. Plus, he could make that shit talk like Howard the Duck.

Guess who had free tickets and backstage passes to the David Lee Roth Huntington Regatta Spectacular?
Guess who got to meet the wild man himself in person, smoke grass with him and discuss the finer points of over-40 feminine beauty?
It wasn't me- it was my boy Garrett McDonald. I had to work at the pizza joint that night. I did make Dave's pizza though- Pineapple and green peppers.
