{ Ratatat }
These boys Mike and Evan busted out hot from the gates behind Brooklyn, using the name Cherry they found that right off the bat everybody wanted a piece, everybody thought they were grand, and everybody wanted to be in the band. Then those dark boys Interpol stumbled onto them and brought the two on board for part of their tour. And it was good. Now they've signed, and they've just released their first album under a new name, a stronger name, a better name, a name called Ratatat.
Playing together since 2001, Even and Mike have love for many styles, combining beats, keys, guitars, and more into what could actually be called audio bliss. Mike plays guitar like no other man in NYC, accompanying many other accomplished musicians in the past, and Even has been cranking out mac tracks for a few years under the moniker E*vax... but now they rock as one. Good stuff. So now, with these two together you get exactly what it seems so many other bands are shooting for these days, but most of them seem to be missing, a nice rock-electronic mix. Not too hard, not too soft. Not too danceable, but not too sleepy. Not too hip-hop, but not too classical. It really is incredibly hard to describe, more so than any other album I've heard in recent months, but trust me, it is also incredibly hard to ignore. Yeah. Already another on my best-of list.
