Interested in seeing great art from someone in the Mid-West?, this is it. Scott is a self-trained artist in the Cleveland area who's mediums range from traditional illustration with paint & canvas & murals etc., to sand sculpture, marionettes, as well as collaborations with his Dance Choreographer/Wife Sarah Morrison in her modern dance projects by making Masks and costumes. This guy is amazing!
My personal feelings are that by being self taught, he's definitely developed his own style and exhibits a freedom that most of us only hope for. When I observe his work, I am drawn in by it's darker edge. Granted, it is not stereotypically grotesque, like a lot of "dark" art is, but more emotional and true. As it's abundantly clear, his art illustrates common themes of life we all face: struggle, strife, yearning, love & joy.
If for nothing else, you will enjoy his puppets. Although unique, some of them have an honorable resemblance to those in Jim Henson's "The Dark Crystal" or other things, all together not quite human not quite beast but full of character and charm.
So, what are you waiting for? Get over there, and tell me what you think! And don't forget to check out Morrison Dance in the links too!
