{     Outkast "Speakerboxxx: The Love Below"     }

I was gonna write a long review of the new Outkast double disc dose of down-south d..d....d.....b....b...bounce titled Speakerboxxx: The Love Below, but as you can see, I just don't have the flow. Here's what I will say: In a semi-professional comparison, this album would sit well on a shelf between earlier Outkast fare, they being in a hip-hop class of their own, a nice chunk of wet Prince sex-funk, and oddly enough a hefty dose of Captain Beefheart or Frank Zappa psycho-psychedelic studio wizardry slash happy druggy accidental magic. Seriously.

It goes like this: Andre 3000's disc is just crazy. Mad shit. So-so-so good, but this boy is giving us some seriously out there soul, more singing than anything else, with the rare rhyme dropped here and there. Now, with that maybe putting you in fear of a 'Kast letdown, I will say that Big Boi's disc isn't too far from Stankonia's bump, but these tracks are still pretty damn out there. Featuring guests that run up and down the mainstream hip-hop gamut from Jay-Z to Ludacris, all riding those stapled stuttering Outkast beats, this disc will still shake some ass. Now, with all that said, I must add that I would totally buy this album, twice. It's that good. It's few and far between that musicians release warranted double albums, usually falling short and tripping into the sad category of artistic masturbation, and it's true that one of these discs is going to get a lot more play in your stereo than the other, depending on your taste, but still, it is good, it is fun, the beats are on, the tracks are addictive, and dare I say some of it is art. Highly recommended.
