If you still don’t get why Chappelle left Comedy Central, here’s the one-sentence summary: It’s the difference between being laughed at and laughing with. Intelligent comedy attempts to engender the latter, while those who indulge in the former are guilty of not only perpetuating the stereotypes but of profiting from them. Mencia thinks he’s keeping it real, but for every person that truly gets what he’s goofing on, there are 10 more who are just laughing becase he refers to Hispanics as “Beaners”.
